MR PETRIE AT AHAURA 1 . Mr Joseph Petrie addressed the ftle-> tors at James' Hall, Ahaura. on Saturday night. The hall was oacked and the candidate received an excellent Teception. Mr James Hargreaves presided. Mr Petrie's speech, which was frsquenSly applauded, was much on the same lines as thosfe recently delivered by him in tha o'Jher centres. He announced" b:-niself a supporter of thi^ leasehold batsaid he would not interfere nritb legitimate freeholdb'rs. He would support' the cutting up of large estates. If returned he would do his utmost to have thte roads and bridges in tlie district seen to and generally h e would use hie bpst endeavours in the inteirest of the district. : Mr J. . Kennedy' asked if the candidate was in favor of revaluation at the fermination of leases on the West Coast. - Mr Pefrie said' that anyone taking up land on th>j "VVest Coast had td meet such extraordmariy difficulties that be was entitled to ;mor o consideration: and he was not in favor of revaluation. Mr J. W. Jones mov'«d: 'That Mr, Petrie is a fit and proper person to representthe electorate in Parliamient.' Mr A. Robinson seconded the motion. On a show of hands being taken it) was declared carried. The Druid's Hall at Dunollie not being completed, Mr Petrie's address #> the electors, to have been delivered to-night ! has been postponed till the evening of the 16th inst!.
