Greymonth Trotting Club

The Greymouth Trotting Club's Spring meeting will be held on Wednesday and Thursday, the llth and 12th inst, and ifc promises to eclipse all previous meetings held under the auspices of the Club. The succe s that has attended the club in past years has acted as an impetus to improve the grounds, and tho large expenditure laid out Ins made the Park one of the best trotting grounds in the colony. Since last meeting further improv. ments have been effected, and visitors to the Spring meeting will find the club has catered still further for the convenience of the public. The acceptances, which wero received last evening, will ensure excellent sport, and a noticeable feature of the list is that nearly all the horses that entered have accepted. This shows at once that the handicapping has met with approval, and -on the race days it will be difficult to pick the winner before the race. In the Innovation Handicap seven horses will face the starter, which should open an interesting day's pro gramme. The Midland Handicap has induce! ten horses tc come forward, and the Labor Day Handicap has seven acceptors. In the Tradesmen's Handicap, always an interesting race, five horses will eompcte. The Electric^ Handicap will have rdx starters and the County Handicap five. The Grand Stind Handicap will be contested by seven horses, Before the day of the race our sporting critic will endeavor to deal more fully with the different events.
