Dredgemasters' Certificates
Intending candidates for dredgemasters' certificates should note the following : — Every candidate for a certificate by examination shall, at least oue month before the date fixed for the examina ion, make application iv that behalf t3 "The Secretary of the Board of Examiner* under the Mining Act" at Wellington and shall forward therewith a fee of LI. Every candidate for examination shall be not less than twenty four years of age, aud shall forward, together with his application, satisfactory evidence of sobriety and good character, and of ab least three years employment on a diedge or dredges, two years of which must have be a served on a dredge or dredges working iv deep ov swift flowing streams. No candidate shall be permitted to attend for examination without •uthority signed by the secaetary of ! the Board. The examination shall comprise the following subjects :— I (a) On laying lines and the methods of running lines for working a dredge. (b) On movinga dredge up and down sbiearu. (c) On mooring a dredge and protooting snnae against floods, etc. (d; On boats and the working of same under conditions incidental to dredging operations. (c) On a kno v ledge of the special rules prescribed by regulation 83 made under "The Mining Act, 1898" and its amendments, at d of any other requirements of the said Act and its amendments relating to dredging. (f) On such other matters relating to ti.e safe working of. dredges. The fist examination will take place at the Harbor Board's office onFebuary 3. 1903, at 9 am, the examiner btinff Mr Wm Faithful.
