The following is the address to be presented to the Duke of Cornwall and York. The address is tastefully illumated and is in the form of a scroll with White York Roses, entwined with Scotch Thistles and Shamrock, nicely painted. Th-3 work of getting up the address was entrusted to Mr E Warns, and the lettering of the address is a work of art and reflects the greatest credit on his penmanship. The painting was done by Miss Gleeson, and is a fine bit of painting. The address is to be presented with a handsome silver casket suitable inscribed : — "To His Royal Highness, George, Frederick, Earnest, Albert, Duke of Cornwall and York, Knight of the most noble order of the Garter, Knight of the most ancient aud noble order of the Thistle. Knight of the most illustrious order, of Saint Patrick, etc, etc. "May it please Your Royal Highness, "We, Andrew Matheson, Mayor of the Town of Greymouth, New. Zealand, William McKechnie, Chairman of the County of Grey, and William Robert Kettle, Chairman of the Greymouth Harbor Board, on bebalf of the citizens aud inhabitants of the District, thereby convey to you, with oue full voice, our loyalty to His Majesty the King. We feel that the link your Royal Highuess has forged by opening the first Parliament of the Australian Commonwealth, will • ultimately become the endless chain that shall bind together every State in our Glorious Empire. It is our desire to mark the occasion of your Royal visit, and that of Her Royal Highness the Countess of Cornwall and York, in a permanent manner. We therefore pray you to kindly give Your Boyal Assent to the erection of a large number of incandescent lamps in the town of Greymouth, to be named " The York Light " The base of the structure to be of marble suitably inscribed, in commemoration of Your' Royal Highnesses important mission to Australia and New Zealand, Anno Domini, 1901.
