A CONFERENCE ON LABOR MATTERS.

[per press association.] Auckland, February 9 A conference between the delegates from the Employers Association, the Trades and Labor Council, and the Auckland branch of the. Knights of Labor was held to-night to consider the establishment of a board of conciliation for the averting of strikes .and the settlement of disputes. It was decided to form the board, but a discussion then arose as to whether both the Tradeß and L?bor Council and the Knights of Labor, two distinct bodies, should be represented on the board. Eventually consideration of the subject was adjourned for a week to enable the delegates to consult their various bodies in the meantime. During the dlacuaaion it was pointed out that several Unions in Auckland were affiliated to the Maritime Council, which therefore ought also to be represented on the board. It was suggested by one of the speakers that two boards should be established, one comprising the employers and the delegates from the Trades and Labor Council, and the other the employers and delegates from the Knights of Labor.
