At a meeting of the Colonial Sugar Company to-day it was stated that the question of the stoppage of the Blackbourne Company in Queensland had been carefully considered, with the result that the sugar industry (could net be carried on in the tropics
without Kanaka labor. The company had arranged for testa to be made in a suitable district in Fiji with the view of removing the Queensland millß there.. In the Legislative Assembly Sir H. Parkes has given notice that the Federation proposal* agreed upon at the Melbourne Conference be discussed on Wednesday. He intends to propose that Messrs Wm. M'Millan (East Sydney), J. Abbott (Wentworth), J. P. Garvan (Eden), and himself from the Legislative Assembly, snd Messrs E. Barton, Jennings and W. A. Suttor from the Legislative Council shall be the New South Wales delegates to the next Federation Conference. The Opposition are annoyed at G. R. Dibbs, member for Murrurabidgee, being overlooked, and the omission of hla name from the lish is likely to cause some trouble. Adelaide, April 30.
