Melbourne, August 22. The Agent-General (Murray Smith), ' who is at present at Berlin attending the Telegraph Conference, telegraphs to the Government that he does not anticipate any diffiiculty in obtaining a reduction of the ordinary tariff for cable messages between Europe and Australia, but states that he is doubtful whether the desired press rates will be acceded to.
