An important conference attended by numerous British and Colonial representatives sat to-day to consider the .situation of affairs in South Africa, the principal speakers Avere Sir William M-Arthur and the Right Hon W. E. Forster, both' of Avhom strongly urged that the Imperial Government should take steps to enforce the provisions of the convention concluded Avith the Transvaal Republic in 1881.
