WANGANUI CROPS.
Wanganui, January 21. North-west gales and heaA'y rains have 1 lasted the last 24 hours. There is no 1 sign of abatement. Accounts as to the i effect upon the groAving crops come in on every side. The destruction to the grain in some parts of the district, especially j northwards up coast, is so groat that the farmers deem it useless to cut Avheat, but intend to turn the cattle into the fields to consume it as fodder.
