The Government of the United States have entered a protest against the introduction by the Porte of ad valorem duties on goods from all countries except Austria, Italy, and France. It is reported that the settlement between Chili and Peru, whereby the latter ceded the provinces of Arica and Tunca to the Chilian Government, has been confiirmed.
