The dome of the building fell with a crash twenty minutes after the fire broke out. The deatruction is complete. (Received September 22, 7.40 p.m.) Latest. The whole of the Garden Palaoe was completely destroyed thid morning. Within an hour after tho commencement of the fire a few portions of the brickwork are all that now remain Btanding. There waß no insurance upon the build*, ing, or upon the contents, except the art collection and reflector. The loss is ia* calculable on account of the great destruction of Government documents, many of which cannot ba replaced. All the papers relating to tbe last census and plans and records of the railway surveys perished In the flamea, and the collections in the Technological Museum will be difficult to replace. The flames spread with great rapidity and rose to an immense height, being visible for miles around. The origin of the fire is entirely unknown, but it is hinted that it is due to incendiarism. September 22 (9 a.m.) The Garden Palace, situated in the ianer domain, the building in which the New South Wale 3 Inernatfonal Exhibition of 1879 was held, has been totally destroyed by fire. The conflagration broke out at five o'clock this morning, and is still raging. The sight of the burning building ia moat grand, and thousands of people are now on the spot. AH efforts to save the Palace have been without avail, and nothing can prevent Its complete destruction. The offices of the Linda Department and the Harbor I offices were in the building, and it is feared that there will be a serious losa of official documents and other Government property.
