Within the last two weeks several Canterbury stations have changed hands, and, amongst others, the beautiful estate of Culverden, in the Amuri district, which has been bought by Sir Cracroffc Wilson for; the sum of L 50,000 cash. The property consists of about 26,000 acres freehold, with extensive improvements, together with 16,000 sheep.

At one of Mr Mackune's Good Templar public meetings in the norths a Mr Rawdon asked, (the " Evening Post " says) if it was true that in the Uood Templar Lodges there was a call off for ten minutes for congratulations, or what he would vulgarly call kiss-in-

Between one and two o'clock on Tuesday afternoon ho was seized with an apoplectic fit, and was carried out of his store into his house, where he expired about half -past nine the same evening, Mr France, who was fifty-two years of age, leaves a widow and six children. His funeral yesterday was the largest one ever seen in Oamaru. •
