THE INANGAHUA REEFS.

RICH RETURNS.

Splendid returns continue to be received in town from many of the quartz claims in the luangahua district. On Saturday the Reeftyn coach brought to town 6900z of gold, the result, of the crushing of 400 tons of stone from the Golden Fleece claim, and 3060z the result of eleven days crushing at the Wealth of Nations claim. On the same day the highly gratifying intelligence was received that the Just-in-Time Company's crush-, ing had gone over 4oz to tne ton. With regard to this the "Herald," of Saturday, says : — " A clearing-up took place at the Just-in-Time and Fiery Cross batteries yesterday, after crushing from 100 to 110 tons of stone from the Just-in-Time mine, with the highly magnificent result of 12300z of amalgam, probably not yielding less than 4500z of melted gold. Competent judges arrive at this conclusion from the fact that the gold being coarse it will probably give a higher average yield than has yet been obtained from the Murray Creek reefs. There is also another faot to be taken into consideration in estimating the average, namely, the large percentage of gold obtained from the blanket washings and tailings, the latter, according to a test at Anderson's, yielding upwards of an ounce to the ton. Of course, this is a much larger percentage from the tailings than should' under proper supervision have been obtainable. The Fiery Cross reef is also looking admirable, and is sft \hick at the northern face, showing 2uz stone. The Just-in-Time will c-anplete their crushing in abv>ut a fortnight, when the batteries will be engaged on the Fiery Cross stone for probably six to eight weeks." With reference to the result from the Golden Fletce claim, the same paper says :— "The Golden Fleece parcel of gold, as retorted, is about 7030z obtained aftei seventeen days' crushing from 409 torn 12cwt of stone, showing an average there fore of very nearly 1 |oz per ton. , The tailings and blanketings showed that Mi J. Greenwood, the .amalgamator, hac treated the tables very efficiently, tht percentage of gold obtained therefrom being very small indeed." ;
