With respect to the auriferous ; lands' within the Borough, the fpllowing telegram was read and received :—"Governjnent proposes that auriferous lands within the Borough qf Greymouth as a town .site, and then proclaimed as a gold field. ' The withdrawal in the firat place will' have to I>& recomraended by the County Council, sne^ recommendation: being approved by the Waste Land s Board. .I. ■ will com? municateL accordingly by telegraph with Chairman of County Council.- ■ 1 am.advised that the land* even though included as a gold field, will remain within and form part of the Borough. ■The only effect of proclamation, will beHo bring such of that land as is waste 'land of the Crown under Gold Fields Acts.— W. Gisbobne." It was moved by Councillor Niehol, and seconded 'by Councillor Moore — "That the. consideration of the matter be deferred till the return, of his Worship the Mayor." — Carried:' ■ . The motion of Councillor Niehol, tabled list meeting, was amended as follows— "That, on. application to the wharfinger, in all cases where the quantity of goods stored in the Transit Shed shall exceed five tons, parties storiug same may be allowed, to employ Labor, and in such case the charge for receiving and delivering be not levied".
