This compulsory waiting is due to the regular communication having been broken up by the Murray, Kennedy, &c. , taking northward trips. Thep.3. Charles Edward, Captain Holmes, arrived from Hokitikn on Thursday at midnight, and sailed again last night at the s&n'e hour for Westport, Nelson, and Northern jports. Her report -says that she left Dnnechn on Thursday week at 1 p.m. , arriving at Lyttcltr.n the following day at 11a.m. Sailed again at 10 p.m. the same day, and experienced a strong N.W. gale to Nelson, where sue arrived on Sunday at 4 a.m. Left for this coast on Monday at noon. Met a strong S.W. gale in Blind Bay, and came to auchor fur shelter Tinder Bush End until Tuesday morning. Arrived at the •Buller on Wednesday, at 4 a.m., ami left again at II p.m. th-5 same day, arriving at Hokitika at 10 30a.m. on Thursday taoriiurj;, leaving again in the evening for the Grey, arriving as above. She brought about fifteen passengers. The Charles Edward, as usual, ■will on her return from the Marmksu to Nelson extend her voyage to Lytttlton and Dnnedin, leaving the latter place on her return to the Coast about the 141 h iust. The regular trding schooner Ceres. Capt. Hcg!ie3, from Melbourne, arrived off the bar yesterday, but vn\s unable to enter, on acconnt of the absence <»f the p.s. Dispacli, As the latter vessel, however, will be here, to-night, the schooner's enforced detention an the roadstead will not t»e of long duration.
