MINERS COMP LAINTS.

(To the Editor of the Grey fihw AryiM.) Sir —Would you oblige the undersigned by inserting the following few lines in your valuable paper, for the benefit of the diw<;ing cnmmunify. Ib is a o;ise, that wa* tried on Monday last, at- the Warden's Cuirt, Greymouth, Frank Hooper v. Andrew "Beard. I, Frank Hooper, and mates are holders of miners rights, and by virtue of the sanie did t.ike up a claim alongside of Be^rd and party. We, according to the mining rules of Canterbury Province, left a wall of ten feet between the two claims, the said wall, iiccording to; the rules, is not to be touched by either party without consent being given by the parties working. Now, Beard and party, in direct op2>osition to. such rules, did drive out the saiil wall without my consent, causing our claim to fall in, and endangering the lives of the parties working. I must mention that Beard and party, when in Court, pleaded guilty to haying taken• out ths wall withoutmy consent, and still in the face, of such evidence Mr Revell decided tlie case against me, stating that if Beard and party did take out the wall of ten feet that I ought to have, left ten feet more. Now,-if this is called law, I should like*to know how we are to get justice. Knowing, tbat persons are not allowed, to.-say much before Mr Revell, I employed counsel, to whom I paid; £5. My opinion of the gentleman is this,'.that.he .knows ;is much how to conduct a mining case as Mr I'evell does to deciile, one, and th at is very lvfctle. By inserting this, would oblige^ the. principal supporters of your^^ paper. ..' lam, &c, .'.' / Frank Ho6per.
