At the Police Court, to-day, Hugh Barlin, alias Baldwin, who was oonvioted on fifty charges of obtaining goods by the issue of valueless oheques, received cumulative sentences amounting to eighteen months. The Magistrate commented severely on the readiness with which storekeepers took cheques from unknown parties.
