“DEFINITE SHORTAGE”
MEETING DEMAND FOB FARM LABOUR HOPES OH MINISTER
Whatever was said to the contrary it was recognised, that to-day there was a definite shortage of farm labour, said the Minister of Agriculture, Hon. W. Leo Marlin, at Fuock House He was not one who believed that everybody who took tipi farm work should spend all their lives as farm laborers, but that all should have tho opportunity of becoming their own boss.
They had to recognise 'that there was a distinct shortage of farin’ labour, he added. Ho hoped that as a result of what was being done at block House it would he possible to meet in, some degree the needs of the fanners. If Flock House was a continued success, which lie was sure) it would bo, it might mean the establishment cf similar institutions elsewhere in New Zealand. That was for future consideration,but it did emphasise the necessity for proceeding on sound 'lines -so that the experience gained might be turned to the- best advantage in order to meet the national needs connected with primary production.
