Invariably towards the end of this month, the applications for motor licenses show- a substantial increase : n) the rush to secure new plates, by June 1. This year a, very, substantial addition to the registrations) in Gisborne is expected, and to obviate, delay as far as possible, the chief postmaster. Mr Geo. Nelson, has- arranged for the special motor registration office, in thp upstairs portion of; the central postal building in Gisborne, to he open daily throughout next, work from 9 a.m, until 8 p.m This arrangement should be appreciated by business people, who are unable to spare tho time during business hours to, keep their places :Vi tho queue for registration purpose?.

THE NEW PLATES

Black numerals and border lino on a ground of golden yellow •constitute the “color scheme” for the registration platc-s which must, appear on all mote., vehicles on Juno 1. hub not before that date. Separating -he thousands from thd hundreds in the figures will be. seen a little symbol—an inverted equilateral triangle- a small feature not. generally noticed by a motorist but one of significance, in tho scheme of chocking current licenses.
