INSTRUCTION IN GISBORNE, TEAMS FOR NEXT SUMMER. A large number of enthusiasts atteudod a, meeting at the Cosmopolitan < lul) last evening, called hv the Gisborne Swimming Club for the purpose of arranging life saving teams for next summer. From the general enthusiasm shown life saving teams should be in full swing next season and the Gisborne Club is to be commended on its efforts. In fact, ibe enthusiasm was so marked that before the meeting had concluded members were discussing the question of now surf costumes for next- season. Mi'- E. T. Chrisn. chairman of the Gisborne Swimming Club, presided The chairman stressed the necessity of having a competent life sav'ng team in GU borne. In the past the trouble had boon the la el- of instructors. but Afr. IT. I,e Bas was now resident in the town and was willing to do the necessary coaching. The question of near etc. was discussed and it was decided to write +o tho Surf Association asking for the essential, gear to lie supplied. In tl\o event of this not being available free the Gi«bnrne Swimming Chib agreed (o be responsible for providing Ihe menev.

Afr. C. E. Brown, after giving details of past activities of surf work in Gisborne, moved that a snb-enm-miUee of five be appointed to further sn.-C u-Oljlc.
