D .Rcisenleitcr, in announcing tho scratching of his champion Clydesdale, marc, Meadow Bank Phyllis, from competition, stated that she bad been deliberately shot in one of .his paddocks by an unknown trespasser. Tho horse had been shot at close range, and two bullet, wounds were found near the shoulder blade- and foreleg. There was also a gaping wound near tho heart, apparently made by. such a weapon as a byonet. Tho mare, which was imported from New Zealand in 193-1 and cost 350 guineas, was female champion at the Brisbane Royal Exhibition last year.
