Tho British steamer Avocet advises Lloyd's that when passing the Salvages Islands. ISO miles to the west of Madeira, yesterday, she saw anchored a fishing vessel answering the description of the British North Sea trawler Girl Pat, owned by the Harstand Fishing Company, which on Friday was announced as having been declared a printe ship following her disappearance after calling at C'orocubion. Spain, on April 12. •Several boats were working close in shore. Tho islands are a small rocky group and are dependencies of Madeira. They are used mainly as fishing bases. It is suggested that the. crow of the Girl Pat are searching for Captain Kidd’s pirate treasure, reputed lo be' hoarded in the Salvages Islands.® A Grimsby resident, who once participated in such a search states that idle master of the Girl Pat, George Black Osborne, was in possession of rough treasure charts and Osborne often questioned him regarding them and hinted that he contemplated a search. The British Government sent iin expedition in 1930, hut the treasure was not found.
