Tiny trade t reaty between America arid Finland, tlie sixteenth under the Trade Agreements Act of 1934. was signed to-day. It provides, for material reductions in duties on many exports to Finland, principally agricultural products, as well as imports from Finland. The latter country, moreover, cannot impose .quantitative restrictions oil imports from America. Finnish, concessions affected 60 per cent, of the exports from tho United States to Finland as for the year 1934. while reductions of doty are granted on 11 per cent, of imports from Finland.
PURCHASE OF CHINESE SILVER

Mr. Morgenthnu announced that an agreement had been reached with China for the pureha.se of substantial ouantities of silver from that- country. the proceeds of which would lie maintained chiefly at New York and will be used strictly for Chinese currency stabilisation. The Chinese .Minister (Mr. Sze) has issued a statement that arrangements have been mado to “assure tlie. continued maintenance of the independent currency system in China, not linked with any foreign unit.” The purchases, which are a result of protracted conferences between the Chinese and American officials here, will be made at world market price. --
