NEW YORK, May 19. - The American Federation of Labor has issued a. report on the first quarter of 1936 showing that- employment gained 2.4 per cant- and wages’ 4.8 per cent, while business profits rose 36 per cent and the cost of living rose two per cent,, so the actual wage gti-iii was only 2.S per pent.
Tho report warns that the faJure of tlie re-eriipioyineiit to- keep pace with business recovery has created a serio-us. problem. Although 2,89(1,000 more persons are working than vi year ago, there arc still ]2,1.84,4)00 unemployed.
