'fhe News-Chronicle’s Berlin correspondent says that despite the Nazi leaders’ attempts to create an impression of tranquility and contentment. Herr Hilgenfeldt, head of the relief organisation, in a broadcast speech, admitted that 12.300,000 needy people were seeking assistance from the relief fund. The newspapers paint a rosy picture of the trade boom which they claim has begun, but the financial and economic muddle is growing. The Government, declaring that money is needed lor armaments, refused to assist the railways, which for years have been approaching insolvency. Discontent regarding the shortage of butter and other food is spreading.
