Imperial Airways estimate that approximately one-third, of the mail destined for Australia and New Zealand was lost in the City of Khartoum, which crashed in the sea off Alexandria.

The City of Khartoum carried the early bags, but mail posted within IS hours oi closing lime, which is the bulk of it, is safe, as it was carried by a sister plane.
