Tuckiur, the aboriginal who was sentenced to,death at Darwin for the murder of Constable McColl, lia.s been released on appeal by the High Court, which squashed the conviction. Tho court expressed- a. hope that the. authorities would arrange for Tuckhir's return to his tribe in the far north.

Ten arrests were made following a ; pitched battle between the police and 300 'fanner* over an attempt, to prevent wheat deliveries to an oloviator.
The growers called a strike to protest against low grading and lug ll elevator charges, A clash. occurred when a, iion-’striking' farmer attempted to- drive Ilfs truck through the pickets. •
