BEEF EXPORTS
RESTRICTIONS IN BRITAIN. IMPORTER BLAMES N.Z. GOVERNMENT. STRATFORD, Nov. 8. A letter blaming the New Zealand Government for the restriction on beef exports to Britain has been received by a Stratford; meat exporter from one of the largest English meat importers. Dealing with contracts entered into with the recipient, the letter states: “The contracts are out-date so far as shipment is concerned, but I hope 'that no trouble will arise with the buyers here on this account, as they have been informed - that the delay in shipment is entirely due to the action of the New Zealand Government. You will appreciate that, having entered into a contract for shipment at a stated period; the buyer i s not compelled to take goods owing to the interferonco of the New Zealand Government on the shipment contracted for, and the buyer has the right of cancellation if lie dc,siren to exercise it.” Tiie communication, which is dated October 5, goes on to state Unit as a result, op the retriction of shipments, the market in Glasgow is brightening, and prices quoted revealed that beef was being sold at a figure which would return Now Zealand farmers £3 to £3 13s for boner cows, whereas they were- now receiving 6s to IQs.
