VETERAN’S VICTORY. LOCAL CLUB’S HACK. A very popular victory was registered yesterday by H. S. Davis in the road race conducted by the Poverty. .Bay Professional!, Athletic and Cycling Club over the Awapuui circuit. In the early Stages the pace was made by Church, Allan and Thompson. Church, who is very fit just now, cracked tho pace up to 30 m.p.h. when he had to iako a tap and the remainder of the field, except 11. S. Davis, were overtaken before Makaraka was reached. Tho back markers, however, were unablo to overtake the l veteran leader and Davis (hdep. 4mins) went on to wm from A. Church (30scc) and H. Allan (30see.) in that order. Church established the fastest time, covering the- distance in 23 mins. 22sec, while tho winners time was 26mlns 26 2-ssecs
