An Arts Craft -Exhibition -the first of its kin-el- in Wellington, wil : l be held in June,. ;at the Art 'Gallery, Whitmore .street, a i few , .days after the close of the regular Autumn Exhibition. Entries will be received from any part of New Zealand n P a a limited number of exhibits of an educational value; will be sent from London. The main object of the Art, Crafts Exhibition is to roach beyond the’ i ordinary' scope of art. as usually -exhibited in,-painting. - and sculpture, and embrace a variety of skilled craft work that can be rightly described u-s works of art. The amount of this work done in New ■s4 Zealand is considerable and requires 1 encouragement and extension unci is: not only aesthetic hut . utilitarian and of some, industrial mid commercial importance. - The proposal ’ to. lie-id- such an exhibition of Art Crafts with a liberal interpretation;" of" its scope hat already met wide approval. Exhibitors, are iiTviteclvip- offer?, works under the following schedule Etchings, engravings and bookplates. , Architectural • Section. Commercial Art and Carton and Box-making. Loadlight and Stained Glass Cartoons. Interior Decoration. Miniatures. Carpets and Weaving (including Maori Weaving. Stitchcry and Embroidery. Leather Work. Furniture, i.c., Special pieces oi Now Zealand design and construction Carving and Pottery. Silver-work, .Jewellery and. Metalwork. Sculpture, Plaster-work and Garden Ornament of any description. Book Production and Illumination. All work will he submitted to a Sf selection cub-corn mi ttec, under the general supervision of the Council o* tlie N.Z. Academy of Fine Arts, f°r each section of .tlie schedule a,s enumerated above. 'Not more than three exhibits may be submitted by any individual contributor in each section for acceptance. Freight- one way may at the discretion of the Council he paid on works of special merit recommended by the : sub-committees in .the four centres.. The form of entry will give description and estimated value; also price i ; f for sale at- the exhibition. The Academy will insure all works against, fire while in the Academy’s buildings for purposes of exhibition for the value as Mated in the ontry form but not ■_ exceeding £SO in any case. Every care will he taken but the Academy will net he responsible in the -case of any . injury or loss. In adddition to the entry form a tag or label must be. attached to, or accompany, each, exhibit showing the name and address of the artist, title or description of the work, and the price . if for, sale. " All .worksmust be removed by local exhibitors within throe days of the clo.qing of the exhibition and works sent from a distance will he despatched within , a one- week. f In the case of works sold on account ojf exhibitors the following commissions will be charged: To members of the. Academy, 5 per cent.; to non-members, 10 per cent.
