The London County Council elections took place to-day 2,000,00') ratepayers being called upon to determine the character of the government of London for the next three yeai-s. The population in the area governed by the council exceeds 4,000,000, and the expenditure by ratepayers at present exceeds £15,000,000 annually. At recent elections tho percentage of votes has been small. In 1931, only 27 per cent voted. The council consist of 124 councillors elected py the ratepayers and 20 aldermen elected by the councillors. Fo-r the 118 contested seats to-day, 108 Municipal Reformers, 24 Liberals, and. 160 Labor candidates were nominated. /•
