MAN KILLED; TWO WOMEN

An accident involving the death of a map. and serious injuries to two women occurred two and a half miles north of Ashburton -on Saturday evening, when a motor horse float and a motor car collided. The float wa? driven bv Walter George Ervines, motor mechanic of Christchurch, and contained also Mrs. Steel, of Spreydon, Christchurch, and thre4 men besides three horses. The oar was driven by James Lott, contractor. 37, of Amberley, who was accompanied by his wife. The impact', was so great, that the car was forced back som e distance before the float 1 overturned, _Lott being _ instantly, while Mrs 1 . Lott and Mrs. Steel were injured, the former about the head and the, latter on the body. The 'car was completely wrecked. The two women are progressing favorably in hospital. .
