The annual swimming carnival of the G.isboriie High School wfig conducted in the school baths. yesterday in rather wintry conditions. Despite the nomewhat adverse conditions some interesting swimming exceptionally good time* were 1 recorded. In all -seven records wer.e .lowered-. In the junior boys’ ’ 100yds championship J S. Dodgshun clipped 5 1-osecs. off 'the previous record of Imin 12 2-seec. In. the open championship, McKee and Bowifi clead-hsatecl i7i tlio record time of Itnin 6 4-ssec.,>. 2 l-ssoc lowey than, the record, made by D. ; Armstrong . and ,L. Martin last year.

The third record was in the 66 2-o yds. S'cniov girls’ championship, ivon by A. Pocoek 'in 50sec\ 5 3-75 sec. better than N. jmng’ridge’s time last year. In the hoys 33 l-3yd senior championship, Bowie clipped a second off the selmoi- record, and did the distance in 17sec. Immediately after. N. Henderson won fhe girls' 33 l-3vd junior championship in 22 see., also a second hotter than the record. Bowie secured hi-s third record when he got home by two feet in tli M beys’ 66 2-3vd senior championship. in 39 4-ssoc., clipping 2 l-sisoc. of the former record put up by T 5. Armstrong in 1933. In the boys’ 66 2-3 yd junior championship Svd. Dodgshun set now figures when he swam the distance In 43 l-Ssee., 1 3-5 hoc FnsW than the previous record made by M. McLernon in 1932.

The boys’ 100 yd championship provided the moist thrilling race; of t!Te afternoon. D. Bowie and G. McKee swam nock and nock for' the first two lengths. . Bowie gained a slight advantage on the third turn, and 'with TOvds to go was two feel in the iea<! and appeared a certain winner. McKee then spurted magnificent lv. overhauled Bowie, arid at the finish nothing could separate the pair.
