HIDE AND SHEEPSKIN SALE Messrs Murray Roberts and Co., Wellington, report as follows under date May 19:-. “We submitted to-day a good 1 catalogue of hides and sheepskins to a large attendance of buyers, who bid very keenly-for all lots. (Prices for sheepskinc. showed an appreciation on last sale’s values to the extent of a, halfpenny per lb. Both tanners, anti shippers competed freely for hides, which, showed a good advance, especially in cows, and medium weight.ox. Heavy ox sold at par to an advance of a halfpenny, mediux "ox were from 3. halfpenny to threefarthings better, and) light ox advanced a hall penny to five-eighths of a penny. Cow hides showed an advance of a halfpenny to threefarthings. Heavy kip advanced a halfpenny, while medium and light yearling hides were firm at last sale •-> level. Sound) calf were firm, while faulty calf experienced a sharp ad-, vance, selling up t° 2d over prices obtainable at last sale.
