Sir G. Wilkins, ■ addressing the luncheon of the Western Universities Club to-day, revealed some of the plans of the Ellsworth-Antarctic expedition, which he will accompany as correspondent. Sir H. Wilkins is sailing for Norway next Tuesday. The expedition’s ship is scheduled to proceed from there about August 8 to New Zealand, and thence will leave for the base, the Bay of Whales, about November 1, arriving about December 15.. The personnel' including Sir G. Wilkins and Messrs Ellsworth and Ralchcn will consist of but 15 men ; the smallest ever to make such a journey. Only one aeroplane will he taken for the flight across the Ross Sea.

Sir G. Wilkins reiterated that the object of the expedition was "a flight of discovery/’. It hopes to determine if the Ross Sea flows to Australia, or if it is terminated hv a mountain range after about 500 miles. The aeroplane will bo equipped with specially desiigned skis, and will have a maximum speed of 200 miles an hour. It is hoped to complete a 3000-mile trip over the sea and return in 20 hours. An automatic camera attached to the piano will take photographs of the trip at the rate of one every six seconds.
