Samuel Furnace, a master builder at Chalk Farm, had an office in :l shed. An alarm wnfc given on Tuesday night that the shed was afire. Firemen found a man, who was later identified as Furnace amid the ruins.

The first sensation, occurred when a post-mortem conducted by Sir Bernard Spilsbiiry, revealed threo shots in the body. Now the detectives have found that the dead ma n was not Furnace, but Walter Spatchett, a. young rent collector. The murder had been cureftilly staged. A sheet of paper in the typewriter, which survived the fire, was manifestly intended to suggest that the victim was contemplating suicide. His father-in-law positively identified the body as that of Furnace, hut Spatchett Is father recognised a bank hook and photographs found on the body as belonging to his son. Later. Tho police are searching for Samuel Furnace in connection with the shed' murder. A. full description of the man was broadcast to-night.
