■ -LEAGUE OF NATIONS. OPOTIKI BRANCH. . (Special To The Times). . OPOTIKI, April 19. The first annual meeting of the Opotiki branch of the League of Nations, was held last night, the Hon. J. B. Gow being in the cuair. . The report stated that there are torty-q-nu . members. Five monthly meetings were held in the winter months. Members’ subscriptions totalled £l6 17s, the expenditure being £l3 )6s 2d, leaving a balance of £3 6s lOd. An appeal was made to all members to enlist others. A vote of thanks was passed last year’s officers. The first meeting is to be held on May 28, when a paper will be read by AL*. A. Hillord on the work of the League in schools and colleges. The election of officers resulted as. follows: Patron, Hon. K. S. ’ Williams; president. Hon. J. B. Gow; vice'-presidentsT, Rev. J. E. Draper, and Mr. G. S;,(Moody; secretary, Rev. D. llird; treasurer, Air,. G. I>. Murray; committee, officers and Messrs.' A. Brnae, T. Stelle and AV. Briggs; auditor; Mr. T. Hi Pearson. AViIAKATANE LADIES’ GOLF CLUB.;' At the annual meeting of the Whakatane Ladies’ Golf Club, bed in the Council Chambers, there was a, good attendance of members.* A large number of new members were accepted, and it was decided to secure the services* of a coach. .... > The election of officers resulted as follows: Ladies’ club captaiu, Airs.
