In the singles. Bnignoii heat Hopman fi—•'!. o—o- Borotrn beat Patterson 7— o. 7—5. In the douiiles Briignon and Boiissus beat Crawford ami Hopinan fi—4, C—l. Hopinan. in the singles, was right out of form, -md was repeatedly worked out of position. IL- never looked 1 i ico winning against the Frenchman, who placed at the too of lus form. Tlmre was great interest in the game between Patterson and Borotra. as the two had not yet met during tile tour, and it was thought the result might give an indication of Australia's Davis Cup chances. Both played superb tennis, and the game was most hardly fought, but Patterson was guilty of rnnnv errors, and finally lost ihe match with a double fault.
