BOOTY FOUND.

JEWELLERY VALUED BETWEEN £7O AND £BO STOLEN

RETURNED TO OWNERS LAST NIGHT. There was joy in a Whataupoko household last, evening, for a number of articles of jewellery valued at between £7O and £BO. which had been missing for so rim throe, weeks, were again back in their accustomed places. The story commences some three weeks ago, when the family, who reside in Kingsley road, near Fox street, decided to take a lew days’ holiday. On their return, they found that the liouse find been stripped or all jewellery and similar articles. Entrance was made by a window, which was forced. The intruder or intruders went, right through the house, making a thorough search in every room. The majority of the articles stolen were,taken from the dressing table and duchess in the front bed room. Amongst the principal articles removed were the following:— Gold pendant, valued at £4O. Gold pendant, valued at £lO. Diamond ring, worth £ls. Several war medals. Medal won as: member of a X.Z. Crew at Hammersmith Regatta on the Thames during war-time. Baby’s money box containing 12/0. Wedding ring. One sovereign and one half-a-crown to which particular interest is attached owing to sentimental reasons. In addition, several valuables ol less importance were taken. All the principal items were in small leather .jewellery cases, which were also removed hy the thieves. The matter was reported to the police, and a. careful watch was kept on suspects. As the result, of much investigation and careful watching, Detective McLeod was successful hist evening in locating the greater portion of tin- stolen goods. The coins and Lhe contents of the baby’s money box. it is said, had been spent,, and two medals and the nodding ring are still missing, hut all the rest is now in Ihc hands ot lie* owners

again. More will, of course, lie heard ol tin- matter in the near future.
