CHEQUE FRAUDS.
THREE MEN SENTENCED
\ WELLINGTON, Feb. 5. William Holland Makin, Leonard Walter Makin, and Percy Dowling Hawkins, who had pleaded guilty in connection with Government cheque frauds, were sentenced to-day by Mr Justice Chapman. He made a distinction in. the case of Hawkins, whom he sentenced to a year's reformative treatment. The Makins were both sentenced to two years’ hard labor. —P.A.
