MATAWHERO SALE. Tiie weekly stock sale of the Poverty Bay .Stockbrokers’ Association was held at the Matawhero yards yesterday. There was a falling away in the entries of sheep as compared with last week but tiie sale passed off well and good prices wer,; realised. The_ entries of fat sheep totalled 12-59 and with the exception of a couple of lines all were sold a auction. Ewes made up to 27s and wethers up to 355. Only eight fat cattle were penned and of these two cows were sold at £9 15s, the remainder being passed. There was the large entry 0 f 64 pigs, which met with an excellent demand- Weaners sold up to 17s, baconers up to £2 19s, porkers up to 355. and slips to 22s 6cL The yarding of stpre sheen totalled 8858. comprising 4375 ewes, 3345 wethers, 1150 Jambs and 6 rams. Two-tooth ewes made up ti 21s, four and six-tooth eves 19s, four, .six and eight-tooth ewes 20s, s.m, ewes 18s 3d, fat and forward ewes 19; 7d, and culls 10s. Two-tooth wethers made up to 2Ss 3d. four-tooth wethers 29s 9d and others 20s 3d. AYoollv lambs sold up to 15s. and shorn lambs to 11s Id- A few two-tooth rams were offered and made •16 9d. Hie yarding of store cattle totalled 150 but scarcely any sales were made, buyers apparently prefering to wait for the large cattle fa’r today. A few cows were sold at £lO. The entries of dairy cattle were limited to five. A cow in profit brought £8 15s, and a springing heifer £lO. Sales were made as follows :
