Col. Hume, officer in charge ■ f the Wellington Military District, arrives in Gisborne this morning by the Arahura. Sergts.-Majors Bell, Bowker and Johns ""arrive In- the Arahura this morning in connection with the territorial camp which is to be'held, on the Park racecourse, starting next week. The 'sad news has been received by Mrs S. Owen, Hirini Street, Ivaiti, that her son W. Owen was killed in action on March 29. Previous •to enlistment Private Owen was working on the Horohori Station. He was between 21 and 22 vears, of age and left with the 28th reinforcements. Another brother is a present in camp completing his training Miss Alibe Scoullar, of the Bank of New Zealand staff, received the sad advice yesterday that her brother, Lieut. Arthur Scoullar, had been killed in action.. Lieut. Scoullar, who was only 24 years oh age, enlsted when war broke out and was a member of the Advance 1 arty which occupied Samoa. On returning to New Zealand he immediately joined the Rifle Brigade, which was then being formed, and* saw a great deal of service in France, winning his commission on the field. He had a number of friends in Gisborne who will deeply regret his loss. He a son of Mr J. G. Scoullar, of the literary staff of the Otago Daily Times. ----- * ..._/
