The efforts of the Cook and Waikohu County ' Councils’ road . staffs have been 'directed during the past feu- days to'cleaning up the damage' j caused by the previous week’s flood. The Waimata road has been opened for light traffic, light temporary bridges replacing those washed away. The Arikini ' road is now reported to be in good order. In the Waikohu County the destruction of the Motu bridge caused a great deal of inconvenience, and for the use of ireridents across the river a wire cage way has been erected. During the flood many residents whose houses were flooded out were rescued in boatsThe telephone lino near- Motu was struck by lightning, all the subscribers to the Motu exchange being cutoff. .
