MANGAPAPA TOWN BOARD.

MEETING LAST EVENING

The Mangapapa Town Board met last evening. Present: Messrs W. -J. McCliskie (chairman), C. Matthews C- A. Fenwick. T. Howarth, J. R.' Redstone, V. 11. Sharp in and E. Grundy. The manager of the National Bank or New Zealand wrote stating that an overdraft limit- of £I4OO had been sanctioned for the current account. — Received.

Mr J. Walsh wrote complaining of straying stock on the public roads and he had on several occasions suffered damage through cows and horses getting into his garden and trampling down or eating the vegetation. He declared that tire practice of grazing stock on the roads both by day and night was seemingly carried on“without any restraint or fear of the law, and he wanted to know why the offenders were not being prosecuted.—The clerk was instructed to inform Mr W alsh that if he supplied the name of the owners of the stock referred to the Board would take steps to lay an information. The Treasury forwarded advice note for £1 fine collected for riding on the footpath in Mangapapa.—Received. The Chairman mentioned the matter of appointing a commission on the. question of the maintenance of roads :>s between Cook County, Waikoliu County, the Borough Council and the Board.

After a general discussion it was proposed by Air Grundy, seconded by A 1 r Redstone, that steps be taken to apply for a commission to consider the appointment of maintenance of the main Ormond Road and the bridges thereon; Hospital Road and roads leading to the Hospital, and to confer with the Board’s solicitors thereon. Tin's was carried and the clerk was instructed to communicate with the .Minister for Internal Affairs in the matter.

On the motion of Air Fenwick it was decided that the chairman and Messrs Grundy and Redstone be appointed to interview the Board's solicitors on the above question. In regard to the question of metal supply it was decided to call tenders for the supply of 600 yards of un.'frecned gravel.

Air Alatthews proposed that the Borough Council be asked whether there was any prospect of Mangapapa being connected with the Borough water supply under the new scheme. — This was agreed to. Amounts to £2l 9s were passed for payment.
