PERSONAL.

The death. occurred at Te Karaka last night of Panapa AYaihopi. chief of the Te Aitanga Al.ahaki. He was about S 6 years of age.

Air C. E. Dunn, second engineer of the dredger Alaui. has received official notice that he has been selected as a chief engineer in the motor boat patrol service. Air Dunn leaves for England at the end of the month To undergo three months’ training at ■Sandhurst before taking up his commission.

The death took place yesterday at her residence. Aberdeen Road, of Aliss Alargaret Ann Yates, second daughter of the late J. Etehells A ates. and the news will be received with regret by a large number of friends. The late Alisg Yates, with her sister, conducted a nursing home in Aberdeen Road. Originally coming from England, the Aliases Yates spent some years in India before coming to this Dominion.

Very deep regret will be felt in tins district as well as in other portions of the Dominion, on account of the death of Mrs V . Harrold. forme*ly Plunket nurse in Gisborne. Mrs Harrold was for some years before she came to Gisborne at Timaru. Wi Harrold was a member of the local Police Force, and during their stay here Mrs Harrold continued to take a keen interest in Plunket work. Eventually Mr Harrold went into business in Auckland but in due course be disposed of his business and enlisted. For some months Private Harrold has been on active service in France and recently it was reported that lie had been wounded. M hen her husband left for the war the late Mrs Harrold re-entered upon Plunket work, making her home at Westport. The many kindnesses which she rendered in the national cause of saving and building up infant life will not be readily foigotten by a large host of .grateful friends. Her loss will be keenly felt in Plunket Society circles as she was a verv industrious and very successful worker in the cause There is onlv one child, a bright little gnl of five years. Mr* Harrold’s body is being taken to Wellington foi the purposes of cremation.
