Tho erection of breastwork along the river bank at Stafford Street bias been delayed owing to the want of timber. A considerable soakago is apparent in the bank, tho water f rom which will have to be dealt with before)'any filling is undertaken. As regards tho blood pipe from the abattoirs, an erosion of the beach took place some months ago, and it was decided to support the pipe at this point where it had been washed out. While tho work was in hand a oonsiuerablo further erosion has occurred, necessitating moro piling. It is probable that the latter lengths of piling will bo again silted up and the whole beach be available for wheel traffic in tho course of a few weeks.
