HEAVY WINTER AHEAD

[PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) WELLINGTON, March 11. Labor leaders look with troubled eyes at the approach of winter, fearing that serious hardships will be the lot of many along the waterefront. A reporter was informed to-day that there are about 600 men in excess of requirements. “The export trade in wool is slackening,” remarked an official, “and men hitherto working in the wool stores are now swelling the list of those seeking employment on the waterfront.” It is stated that the Watersiders’ Union is doing all possible to secure employment for the men now out.
