WHEN THE LIGHTS WENT UP.
SENSATION AT A SEANCE. “SPIRIT” MATERIALISED. (United Press Association—Cepyright.) SYDNEY, March 7. The “Daily Telegraph” states that a well-known spiritualist was giving a seance before a room full of people. The lights were low and the spirits appeared. A gentleman to whom the medium was under engagement, wishing to test The genuineness of the spirits made a grab at the ghostly apparition and encountered flimsy material. A light was struck, which showed that he held one end of some mosquito netting, the medium tugging at theotiher. The medium did not accept a chance to explain, but bolted into the street hatless, being pursued by some of the audience. The medium, interviewed later, declared the demonstration genuine and the spirits actually materialised. The statement that he Held one end of the drapery was absolutely false. One of the audience who accompanied him in his flight and searched the medium, was interviewed and supported the medium’s statements
