An exploration party at Abidos, under Professor Neville believes it has found the tomb of Osiris. Where the head of the god was supposed to be preserved, lio uncovered a subterranean chapel leading to a. complete sanctuary of the same period as the Pyramids. The structure was in a ruinous condition and 1 was built of huge blocks, not similar ,to those anywhere else in Egypt. [Osiris was the chief, god of the ancient Egyptians. He was held to have gone through sufferings, to have died, to have risen again, and, finally, to have become the judge of the dead. His mysteries and; rites were the most important part of Egyptian wisdom. Under the late republic and empire, his worship spread to Rome, and he was also worshipped _in Greece, the Greeks identifying him with Dionysus.]
