In making a> correction at a meeting held here recently one of the leading Natives in the Bay stated that lie had handed the Council a cheque running into three figures for rates, aiid added that the Natives always paid flic rates as due by them. This comes as welcome when one hears of the vain attempts on the part of most other Councils in the North. Island ro collect even a suraM portion of rates due, and it speaks well of the. integrity of the Waipiro Natives.
